The Moon is a representation of Nature's cycle of birth, life, and rebirth. It stands for the feminine principle which is embodied by the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. The most effective source of female or feminine energy is the Moon. It is important to reflect on the appropriate moon phase when preparing your spell. It is also very helpful to put your ritual in line with the appropriate astrological correspondence.

MOON CYCLES:

NEW MOON: From the day of the New Moon to 3 days after. The New Moon is a time of renewal and new beginnings. It is also a good time for love spells, healing, and job hunting.

WAXING MOON: From 7 to 14 days after the New Moon. The Waxing Moon is the ideal time for magick involving growth, love, wealth, success, health, courage, friendship, and luck. It is also a time for initiation, drawing positive things into your life, and calling on your desires.

FULL MOON: From 14 to 17 days after the New Moon. The Full Moon is a perfect time for rituals involving protection and divination. Spells including love, money, heavy healing, dreams, job hunting, knowledge, and legal stuff may also be done during this phase.

WANING MOON: From 3 to 10 days after the Full Moon. The Waning Moon energy is used to remove illness, to bind, to rid oneself of addictions, to neutralize or banish negativity. It is the best time for weight losing spells, releasing the past, and breaking spells.

DARK MOON: From 10 to 14 days after the Full Moon. The Dark (or Black) Moon is a time for banishing spells and bringing forth justice although many Wiccans would avoid magick during this phase.
